The Oberkirchenrat Oldenburg has microfilms of most of the Ev.-Luth.
parishes of the former Granddutchy of Oldenburg and the Jeverland.
The period that is covered by these microfilms is from the beginning
of the parish registers up to 1811/1822/1825/1835
(the concrete period differs from parish to parish).
Four examples:
JEVER 1591-1811
CLEVERNS 1632-1825
HOHENKIRCHEN 1648-1822
WIARDEN 1631-1835
The holdings of the Staatsarchiv Oldenburg (the so called "Zweitschriften"
of the parish registers) begin in 1801 resp. 1825,
so that there is a good chance to access the whole parish registers
until 1874/1875 with research at the Oberkirchenrat (until
about 1811/1825) and the Staatsarchiv Oldenburg.
The Oberkirchenrat Oldenburg has opening hours from Monday to Thursday
8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
There is a need to get in contact with the Oberkirchenrat Oldenburg
to fix a date for on-site research! The capacities are VERY LIMITED - they
only have ONE microfilm reader!
You don`t need any appointment, but you need to reserve this machine
by fixing a date!
